FAIRLY AI is proud to announce that our collaboration with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the Responsible AI Institute, and ATB Financial has resulted in a groundbreaking achievement in the AI governance space. Together, we have successfully piloted the ISO/IEC 42001 standard — the world’s first certification scheme aimed at ensuring the responsible development, deployment, and use of AI systems.
ISO/IEC 42001 is a critical new standard for organizations involved in the development, provision, or use of AI-based products or services. Applicable across industries, it serves as a global framework for responsible AI practices, offering a pathway for both private and public sector entities to ensure their AI systems are ethically sound, transparent, and compliant with international standards.
This pioneering effort culminated in the successful evaluation of ATB Financials’ Next Best Conversation (NBC) system — a customer service recommender AI used by client-facing teams. The pilot provided invaluable insights into the real-world application of ISO/IEC 42001 and how the Responsible AI Institute’s Certification Scheme can be integrated with this new standard.
How Your Organization Can Benefit This collaborative pilot paves the way for other organizations to begin adopting ISO/IEC 42001 and ensure their AI systems are held to the highest standards of ethical and responsible governance.
